Want to get to know me some more (like properly, really get to know me)? Here are some random chunks of goodness (weirdness) about me:

I am terrified of birds but I admire them from afar.

I got married to my best friend on New Year’s Eve! You can read about my wedding here.

My favourite place is the beach but I’m scared of the waves!

My second favourite place is hiking up a mountain.

I love being in the kitchen and making desserts. My favourite dessert is my Cherry Ripe Slice.

I have an obsessive/addictive personality – once I get an idea in my head… it’s all I can think about.

I never get bored. There’s always an adventure to go on.

I run to burn off the crazy.

I like walking barefoot.

I’m addicted to peppermint tea.

I’m currently travelling through Canada and the States in a van with my man Dan (this is our yearlong honeymoon!). You can read about this here.

Want to know what I believe in?

I believe that we’re all so used to our features that we don’t know how beautiful we look to a stranger.

I try to love myself as much as I want someone else to – it’s a work in progress. I wrote about it here.

I’m learning to breathe deeply, to really taste food when I eat and when I sleep, to really sleep. Basically I’m learning to be present in every moment. I wrote about mindfulness here.

I believe in miracles but I also believe that you create your own luck.

I am perfectly imperfect. A friend asked me the other day if I ever indulge. Of course I do! It’s so important not to restrict/punish yourself. Food and guilt do not belong together. Indulgences are healthy. The guilt surrounding indulgences is far more damaging to your body than enjoying a treat.

I don’t count calories – for many reasons. Most importantly, my food doesn’t come with labels so counting calories becomes completely unnecessary. Biomechanically, the body is far more complex than calories in and calories out. Further details are here.

Good health starts from the inside out. You can drink 10 green smoothies a day but if you’re constantly stressed or hating yourself, you will never be healthy.

I’m currently studying for my Masters of Human Nutrition.

My greatest fear is not being able to make a difference in this world.
