Vitamin water purchased from the supermarket is full of artificial colours, additives and preservatives. Do yourself a favour and make your own at home. Simply combine fruit and water, to ensure extra electrolytes use coconut water instead of water. For an antioxidant hit, use berries. Other flavour combinations include watermelon and mint, lemon and orange and lime and cucumber. Homemade vitamin water is one of my 15 easy food swaps for better health.
1 litre cold water or coconut water
¼ cup mixed berries (frozen or fresh)
Combine water and berries in a jug. Leave to infuse in the fridge for 1 hour. The water should take on the colour of the berries (light pink/red colour) and taste like berries. The vitamin water is best served chilled.
