Today I’m introducing you to an absolute babe! Her name is Mel Kenny and she hangs out at her online home, She is Nourished. Mel is a fully qualified Health and Lifestyle Coach and is also currently studying her Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine. Tell us about your journey, what sparked your passion for the health and wellness industry?
In my early 20’s, I dived deep into the party scene, ended up in a toxic relationship and slingshotted my general care and self love out the window. I hit some pretty low places, treating myself like crap and letting others treat me that way too. Once I bottomed out, I realised that the only person responsible for the way that I live my life and how I get treated is me. I only nourished myself from there on.
What’s your number one wellness tip?
Listening to yourself. I’m a massive culprit for burning the candle at both ends. I now chill out when I’m exhausted and treat myself to a nourishing, healthy meal to get myself back on track.
What’s your one non-negotiable when it comes to your health?
Green smoothies! Evvvveryday! I pack so much quality nutrition into these babies. I now actually crave a green smoothie if I miss out on them for a few days. If you haven’t started drinking green smoothies, you need too.
What motto do you live by?
It varies. But it generally revolves around living your life from a place of love. Even the tough decisions of life can be made from a place of love.
What is your proudest achievement?
I love this question. I think it’s an achievement for me to be here, where I am today. I am so super proud of what I have created in ‘She is nourished’ so far and am just buzzed to see where it is going to take me.
What are your goals for the future?
I have been doing a lot of work recently on presence and being in the current moment so this question made me giggle. In saying that, I just want to keep moving forward and growing ‘She is nourished’ to a place where I can work independently on it and impact and educate lots of people.
Tell us something not many people know about you?
I laugh in really inappropriate moments allllll the time, I lose my inability to speak sentences clearly if I am in awe and I fall over everything. Sometimes I wonder if I was really built for land.
Can you share with us one of your favourite recipes?
My favourite green smoothie of the moment! I can’t get enough of this one!
2 pears, cored
1 frozen banana
1/2 green apple, cored
1 stick of celery
250ml coconut water
3 cups/large handfuls of kale or spinach
Spirulina – I use Micro Organics (if you haven’t had spirulina before, be gentle! It’s a great detoxifier and too much too soon can really clean you out!)
Mix all the ingredients in a blender til smooth and then enjoy!!
