Tell us about your journey, what sparked your passion for the health and wellness industry?

My journey begun as a full time dancer by day and teacher at night. It was this lifestyle that led me to experiencing self esteem issues and complete burn out. The high pressured and negative environment soon led me to the new direction of passion and career. This is where I decided to act upon my passion for natural health and wellbeing. I’m now a soon to be Naturopath studying in Melbourne, Victoria.  I am a self-confessed health nut and believe that natural remedies and adapting a healthy life is going to be the way of the future. I’m simply educating and inspiring individuals to live a whole and nourished life.

What’s your number one wellness tip?

To have a holistic and balanced approach when it comes to health. Too often people just focus on the food and nutrition side of health, however to me there is so much more. Good health involves eating the right foods, more sleep, less stress, adequate exercise and an overall happiness within your life. Life is simply too short so make sure you do the things you love in life and never waste a moment.

What’s your one non-negotiable when it comes to your health?

To consume food in their natural state, foods that have had little to no processing. Nature has provided us with an exceptional range of foods, it seems so wrong that we add preservatives and additives in order to make them taste better i.e. add more sugar and salt in order to make them last longer. Foods should be enjoyed fresh and seasonal, that’s the way nature intended us to eat them and how our bodies best respond to what we are eating. Real and wholesome foods is the answer.

What motto do you live by?

Be healthy, Be happy and have balance.

What is your proudest achievement?

Well of course it would have to be launching Healthy Ambitions and following my dreams to make a difference when it comes to health and wellness. My journey has only just begun and I’m so excited for what the future has in hold.

What are your goals for the future?

Healthy Ambitions is currently in the process of opening up an online health food store where I’m going to be releasing some of my own products and individuals will be able to purchase all they want and need to adapt and maintain their healthy life and at an affordable price. I’m also working on an E-book and going to be launching my first event in 2014!

Tell us something not many people know about you?

I love chocolate; actually I have a real sweet tooth. I would do anything to get my hands on it and used to do everything to hide that I loved it. Thank-god for cacao powder – It’s totally been a lifesaver, and I feel so much better without the sugar overloads. I guess not many people know I come from a dancing background either.

Can you share with us one of your favourite recipes?

Chocolate Bounty Balls

Bounty Balls

Filling Ingredients:

You can either use 2 cups of shredded coconut or the flesh of 1 young drinking coconut

1 teaspoon raw organic honey or sweetener of choice

¼ cup of cashews

2½ tablespoon of solid coconut oil

Chocolate Layer Ingredients:

2 tablespoons coconut oil

3 tablespoons raw cacao powder

1 teaspoon of raw honey or sweetener of choice

Method:

Throw all filling ingredients in your blender and mix until combined and at your desired texture. Roll the mixture into little balls and place on a baking paper lined tray and place into the freezer. For the chocolate layer, add the raw cacao and sweetener to heated coconut oil in a heat proof bowl over hot boiling water (I do this on the stove top) and combine. When the balls are cold and firm take one ball and place it on a spoon and lower it into the chocolate mixture and coat. Place it back on the baking paper and repeat with the other balls. Put all of the balls back into the freezer to set. After 2 minutes repeat the coating process. Place back into the freezer for another 2-5 minutes to set and take out when you’re ready. Enjoy.
