Gluten Free Cereal

You might have read recently that cereal is near the top of my list of foods I avoid. I can’t believe I used to start my day with cereal. I thought I was being healthy. I was wrong. We need to start our days with protein, good fats, vitamins and minerals. Cereals are highly processed with little nutritional value and contain hidden sugars, sodium and preservatives.

Unless you make your own cereal packed with nutrient dense nuts, seeds, superfoods and fruit. Today I’m sharing my favourite cereal recipe. You can enjoy this cereal with milk (I love almond milk) or on top of your fruit and yoghurt (greek or coconut are best).


¼ cup puffed rice, millet or quinoa (if you’re avoiding grains choose the quinoa – I used the rice in my recipe)

1 tablespoon goji berries

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon linseeds (flaxseeds)

1 tablespoon buckwheat

1 tablespoon pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

1 tablespoon cacao nibs

1 tablespoon sunflower seeds

¼ cup finely chopped brazil nuts (any nuts work well – you can even buy chopped almonds from the supermarket if you don’t have much time)

1 teaspoon cinnamon


Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and store in an airtight container or jar. You may wish to double the ingredients to make a large batch that will last you a couple of weeks. Enjoy.
