Claire Baker is a certified health and life coach, writer and yoga-teacher-in-training, addicted to living authentically with gutsy passion and purpose and helping others to do the same. Claire received her training through The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City and works with women who are ready to transform their health and make real lifestyle changes. Tell us about your journey, what sparked your passion for the health and wellness industry?

My wellness journey hasn’t been so much of a straight line upwards, but more of a squiggly line, darting back and forth and side to side! I was diagnosed with liver inflammation in 2003, which really kicked off my love and appreciation for healing, whole foods. I made the switch to an organic, cleansing, plant based diet and immediately saw the positive effects on my body – basically, I gave my body the space and nourishment it needed to heal itself!

Throughout my 20s, I’ve indulged in less-than-nourishing lifestyle choices with processed foods, alcohol, crazy detoxes and even crazier gym-routines on the menu. Over the past 2 years, I’ve become a lot more conscious in my choices when it comes to my health and have learnt to prioritise it, whilst still maintaining a gentleness and realistic approach that works for me!

What’s your number one wellness tip?

Be kind to yourself, always.

What’s your one non-negotiable when it comes to your health?

Water. I need at least 2L everyday, my body shuts down without it!

What motto do you live by?

“Do what you love!”

What is your proudest achievement?

I’m incredibly proud of the decision I made to start my own business and my commitment to show up every day and do the work I do, even when I’m feeling challenged, unmotivated or restless. I’m really proud that I don’t let these fears/doubts get in my way of doing what I love to do!

What are your goals for the future?

I just want to keep inspiring, encouraging and supporting others as they choose to find the joy in their own lives. I’d love to write a book and do a lot more travelling. I cannot wait until I become entirely location independent when it comes to my career! And of course, live every day with authentic passion and heart-centred purpose.

I am a Barbie girl at heart! Love a convertible, love my blonde hair and LOVE pink heels!

Can you share with us one of your favourite recipes?

I am loving my Nourishing Cherry Ripe Smoothie!

Cherry Ripe Smoothie

In your blender, throw…

1 tablespoon coconut cream

1/2 cup water

Handful of strawberries (with the stems on for extra goodness!)

1/2 frozen banana

1 teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon vanilla protein powder (optional)

1 tablespoon cacao powder

1 tablespoon shredded coconut

Add more water if necessary – blend and enjoy!
