Chickpea Patties

Chickpea Patty

Check out these easy to make, delicious chickpea patties. For a vegan option replace the egg with 1 tablespoon chia seeds which have been soaked in 3 tablespoons water until they form a gel-like consistency similar to the texture of a raw egg.


1 tin chickpeas

½ onion diced

1 clove garlic crushed

1 teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon ground fennel

1-2 teaspoons paprika

1 egg

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon pepitas

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 tablespoons linseeds/flax seeds

¼ cup besan flour (can use any flour)

Salt and pepper to taste


Blitz all ingredients until combined. It’s nice to leave it a bit chunky. Form the mixture into patties. This recipe makes 4 large patties. Fry in a little oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Serve the patties on burgers, wraps or with a salad. Enjoy!
