I’m pretty excited for you to meet this beautiful soul today. Her name is Camilla Ferraro! Camilla is a soon to be nutritionist studying in Melbourne, Australia, and a self-confessed foodie and tea fanatic. I love that Camilla is an advocate for whole foods and eating in a way that best nourishes YOUR individual body. She is also a big believer in the power of the mind and the ability for our beliefs to influence our reality. Sounds like my kind of gal really! Meet Camilla…

What’s your number one wellness tip?

Be kind to your body and nourish it with good food and sunshine.

What’s your one non-negotiable when it comes to your health?

Eating the rainbow; including an array of different fresh fruits and vegies at every meal. I’m a total vegie-lover…a meal isn’t complete without them!

 What motto do you live by?

 Eat. Breathe. Be

 Eat whole and nutritious foods and cook with enthusiasm – get creative in the kitchen!

Breathe and take time-out each and every day. Meditate, take a walk or even have a chat and good laugh with a friend. Stress is killing us slowly so let’s start saying no!

Be at one with yourself, be grateful and practice daily rituals self-love to nurture your body and soul. It’s so important to BE before making the leap to BEcome!

What is your proudest achievement?

Probably designing and building my new website… from ideas to reality in less than 6 weeks.

What are your goals for the future?

 To continue building my business and my tribe (this is only the beginning!) and inspiring others to take control of their health and start making small changes to nourish their bodies and minds.

I have plans to start running foodie tours and workshops from 2014 onwards and to continue running giveaways and instagram comps on my website. I love seeing all the foodie creations people tag me in – it fills my heart with such excitement and joy (and the occasional bout of food envy haha)!

Finishing my nutrition degree and expanding the nutrition coaching and consulting aspects of my business.

I am also a keen writer so a future book is on the far horizon somewhere (I’ve always dreamed of being a published author!)

Just realized the above have all been career related…I guess that’s because I love what I do and can’t wait to see what the future holds… BUT I also plan to travel widely (I’m going on my first overseas trip this year!).

I also plan to do future study in areas that truly inspire me including in the areas of nutritional medicine and potentially naturopathy. I am fascinated by the human body and our ability to use FOOD as MEDICINE.

Tell us something not many people know about you?

I’m sooo NOT a water-baby…I can’t swim and have a fear of the deep ocean.

Can you share with us one of your favourite recipes?

Quick flax and chia porridge

Porridge

This nourishing breakfast creation is inspired by the flax/chia porridge queens – Jessica Sepel AND Amy Crawford from The Holistic Ingredient.

Serves 1

Base Ingredients:

1/3 cup of oats (I use steel-cut…they take a little longer to cook but I love the chewy texture)

1-2 tablespoons chia seeds

1-2 tablespoons of flax meal or LSA

½ cup of almond milk (or any preferred milk)

½ cup water

Method:

Soak the oats, LSA/flax and chia seeds for 1-2 hours or overnight, in enough water to cover (mixture will thicken up). In the morning add the mixture to saucepan with the milk and water and bring the mixture to the boil before allowing it to simmer and thicken to desired consistency. Make sure to stir the porridge consistently.

Take off the heat and stir through the added goodness (see below!).

You can flavour this baby to your liking by adding a range of extra goodies! Once cooked, I like to stir through some cinnamon, maca powder, raw cacao and often also add some frozen blueberries and a tablespoon of good quality protein powder for an extra protein kick. I then top with shredded coconut, pecans, almonds and a dollop or two of Greek or coconut yoghurt! Y-UM! For a little extra sweetness feel free to drizzle with a little maple syrup or coconut nectar.

This porridge will keep you satisfied and energised for hours.
