Where I Ate In San Fran

Greens Restaurant

San Francisco was mostly a Mexican affair. We only visited for 4 nights so this isn’t a massive list. Mamacita was the most frequented restaurant on this list. We ate there most nights. Greens was our favourite for breakfast/brunch and I couldn’t fault Gracias Madre, it was the first place we stumbled across.

Gracias Madre – a plant based Mexican restaurant that specialises in local, organic and vegan food.  The director of Cafe Gratitude helped set this restaurant up and a second Gracias Madre restaurant has recently opened in LA (Melrose Ave, West Hollywood). As you can imagine, the food is awesome. You can definitely feel the influence from Cafe Gratitude. Don’t miss happy hour from 3pm till 6pm.

Mamacita – these guys deliver true authentic Mexican cuisine. You have to ask to see the vegetarian menu and whatever you do, try the Chilaquiles. Chilaquiles are corn chips tossed with sauce (salsa, chipotle cream, etc) and toppings (meat, roasted squash, etc). Delish! I promise you won’t regret it.

Greens Restaurant – this place has the best view. It’s located right on the bay overlooking the golden gate bridge and marina (book a window table). Greens is an organic vegetarian restaurant that serves up the best breakfasts. It also offers a take-away menu which is awesome if you’re going to be out and about for the day or if you want to eat on the run/whilst travelling. This place was super close to our accommodation so it made our life very easy.

Other places I’ve heard are good are:

Millennium Restaurant

The Plant Cafe

Judahlicious
