Where I Ate In NYC

The Butcher's Daughter

There are so many awesome wholefoods restaurants and cafes in New York City. You could literally spend months exploring the restaurants in this city. My top picks were:

The Butcher’s Daughter – Juice bar and cafe with an awesome quirky atmosphere located near Little Italy. This was a great spot for breakfast and is vegetarian and dairy free. They also serve sandwiches, soups and salads, along with juices, elixirs, smoothies, craft beers and biodynamic wines.

Candle 79 – My favourite meal in New York City. Candle 79 is a vegan restaurant that also serves organic wine and beer and eco cocktails. It’s located on the Upper West Side. We went for dinner but I wouldn’t hesitate to go for breakfast and lunch.

Bare Burger – there are a few Bare Burger Restaurants in NYC. Bare Burger are an organic, grass-fed, free range, humanely raised, sustainable burger bar. Their menu features traditional meats such as beef, chicken, turkey and lamb, along with exotic meats such as elk, bison, ostrich and boar. They also serve mushroom, veggie and black bean burgers. If you’re avoiding grains, their burgers can be served on lettuce wraps.

Wholefoods Market – we seriously need Wholefoods in Australia. Wholefoods is a large, organic, health food supermarket. They have numerous locations all over the States and their products are so much cheaper than we pay in Australia. Wholefoods also have a self serve hot and cold food buffet section with vegan and vegetarian options. It’s great for quick lunches on the go.

One Lucky Duck – a juice, smoothie, snacks and takeaway cafe. I went to the Chelsea Market location. One Lucky Duck is run by the people who own Pure Food and Wine so all their products are raw vegan. They have a great range of One Lucky Duck brand products including bliss balls, crackers and superfoods.

Other places I want to visit (next time!) are:

Pure Food and Wine

ABC Kitchen

Gust Organics

Hu Kitchen

Sacred Chow

Can you add any to this list?
